Day 98 - Glamis, California

I started my day waking up in the desert, running out of food and water. I had to get a move on, and hiked 13 miles out of the off-road desert path I was on. Glamis was awesome, and the support I got from the kind folks at the Glamis Beach Store- got me hyped up, and kicked me into gear for a 42 mile day! It's hard to believe it was only a climb of 350 feet, because there were a few that wore me out. Must have been the dehydration that made it difficult. I chatted with the staff at the only store for miles- for a bit about my project and the mission, and then they refused to let me pay for anything from the store! I got so much free food and drinks, and even a pair of shades- it really brightened my day… and then they threw a cherry on top and gave me some cash for the roads ahead! It’s moments like these that make me feel blessed to have taken on this adventure, and created the Pushing The Art Foundation… If you’d have talked to me a couple years ago and told me this is what I’d be doing right now, I’d be blown away!!! I guess since I forgot to mention a milestone of the trek, I’ll say it now: December 13th marked 2 and a half years no alcohol! I firmly believe that that decision to cut out booze from my life, has empowered me to become the man I am today! Life’s full of distractions, and partying can be fun… but it can also just be surface level joy, mindless self indulgence, and instant gratification. At the end of the day, I wasn’t really gaining anything from it, just crazy stories and hangovers! And now, I’ve got a new way to make those crazy stories, without the hangovers! I’ve got so many thoughts and ideas swirling through my mind right now, and I can’t wait to implement what I’ve learned from this experience into my personal art, my tattoo work, and the future of the Pushing The Art Foundation!
