The road to Phoenix, AZ was a long one! Day 91 was a 65 mile skate from Superior, Arizona! After spending two days skating and painting in the mountains, I caught a break and had a pretty smooth ride! The Gonzales Pass is a mountain pass that is mellow and smooth west down the 60- and it was for sure one of my favorite hills so far! I had a destination in mind for the day; my buddy Luke’s place- and that gave me the motivation to push. Luke is the artist behind @ripple.rugz and he makes some incredible stuff! It was really cool to check out some of the projects he was working on! Rugs so clean they’re looking like they came out of a factory! For my daily painting, I found an abandoned lot where the remains of a torn down building sat dormant, until a strong little flower plant wanted to burst through the cracks in the concrete!
This is a similar concept to an earlier piece I created, but such a beautiful theme of strength, resilience, and finding beauty where you’d least expect it! Skating through the city of Phoenix was a blast! So many pretty lights and primarily smooth sidewalks through it all- made for a good route to hit one of the longest skates of this entire trip! I did slam pretty good crossing a bridge. There were too many distracting lights, and I was focusing on filming more than the cracks on the road! I got to my buddy's place and it was great to catch up, and grab some grub with a friend.
