Day 84 - Safford, Arizona

Day 84 and I found a cactus to paint! I have been searching for good cacti to capture! I need to talk about how inspired I have become. Arizona, you are beautiful! I am so grateful that I decided to get away from the interstate and skate into the mountains! Yes, it’s a bit more work, and considerably more technical- but the beauty is astounding! This entire trip has been so inspiring for me, artistically, I can’t wait to get home and REALLY paint! I’m pouring my heart and soul into my daily paintings, but I am so excited to take what I’ve seen and felt and learned and experienced and dedicate the time to render some new creations with all this visual and emotional and physical stimulation! This is the longest time I have EVER taken away from my tattooing, and I feel like I’ve learned so much from the lack! From not actively making tattoos, I’ve both through my conscious thoughts on the road, and on a subconscious level- been studying and analyzing the work I have created, and work I will be creating! Despite the daily grind that consumes most of my mental energy for the day (navigation, physical exertion, awareness, reacting to problems and obstacles, self preservation etc.) there is a carnival of exciting chaos swirling through my skull like never before! The laughter, the sweat, the blood, the pain, the tears… it is all becoming fuel to the fire of creation!
Sorry if I’m losing you with this one, but I just need to express how excited I am to return from this trek with a newfound intensity and drive to continue my craft with all my heart, attention and intentions!
I was informed that there was a man walking across the country, who was on the same path as me. It motivated me to skate faster because I wanted to catch up with him and chat, maybe even do a painting of him! I was unsuccessful in locating this man, but it gave me a little boost that helped me push forward. 41 miles and 1,000 feet climbed today! I made it to Safford, Arizona.
