Day 79 - Las Cruces, New Mexico

For only skating about 12 miles, this was a long day! I knew I needed gear so I set a checkpoint and got a ride to go to the mall. The second I walked up to the door, they told me that everyone had to leave. I guess there was a power outage, and they had to evacuate. I laughed it off and went to Wal Mart to get some survival equipment for a long desert stretch ahead of me. I had an insane amount of stuff sprawled out in the hotel room, and did my best to organize everything to hit the road tomorrow. I had to skate to Stolen Rose Tattoo- where I had mailed some stickers for the journey. I had a blast hanging with the crew, but knew I needed some rest and a little more preparation. I was getting ready to camp in the desert, because there were stretched ahead that would be days on the road without hotels. I almost completely forgot to get a sleeping bag! I had a bivy sack that was gifted to me a few weeks prior, but I ditched my sleeping bag and tent that were too heavy! I remembered last minute and got a 20 degree bag before passing out at the hotel. I don't think I would have survived without it, to be honest.
