Day 75 and I woke up in excruciating pain. My feet were throbbing to the point that I could barely get to the shower. I was ready to give up. I laid back in bed at the hotel, 11:00 A.M. and it was time to check out. I called downstairs to ask for another day... And nobody answered. The second I hung up, my phone started ringing. Thinking it was the hotel calling back, I answered and it was not the hotel. To my surprise, it was my buddy John Underhill- another guy who did a cross country skate trip! There's a handful of us crazy people, and John's skate was part of my inspiration to chase this dream. After chatting for a while, I decided not to wimp out on my day, and chose to hit the road. Although he told me, "The desert is the hardest part, and you're going to feel like you're dying out there..." it was still motivational to get that call. I got a solid push in through the day and got stopped on the interstate by a friend I used to tattoo with, and his wife. It was so cool to see friends on the road, and it motivated me to keep going! I was starving and racing the sun, so for this painting, I was eating a cheeseburger and fries while I worked on it! I skated 35 miles to the destination I had intended to stay at- which was a hotel that was closed! I saw a police car, so I skated up to it real quick to ask the officer where I can find a room, but a couple in regular clothing got out of the vehicle. It took me off guard as we both approached the gas station, and the man threatened to assault me because I scared his girl. I opted out of that confrontation, because it was unnecessary to try and explain the misunderstanding. I found a hotel another 26 miles away, so I hopped back on the road, and got to a total of 61 miles for the day!
