Day 67 - Pyote, Texas

Day 67 was a solid day- 49.1 miles and 201 feet of elevation gain. Yesterday was a huge push, so of course my feet felt like they were going to explode from the second I woke up... It takes a certain level of commitment to be hurting so bad, and still keep it going- and once you get a few miles in, it's go time! I skated 49.1 miles this day from Kermit to Pecos, Texas
It was a hot day, but nothing like the humidity I dealt with at the start of this adventure! Here's a fun fact: The roads in Tennessee were so littered with rocks from trucks overflow (I mean millions of them like a minefield up and down thousands of feet of elevation each day) There were so many rocks that it was inevitable I'd fall every once in a while. I had to jump off my board and run it out a few too many times, and the pressure of those slams made my big toenail on my left foot seperate from my foot. I've now been playing the "which toe has a blister today" game, and my neck is killing me from looking back to make sure I'm not about to get run over. The sometimes 30 plus pound backpack is quite an added bonus to my suffering, and I'm living off gas station burritos. Nothing about this is easy, but I keep showing up and giving it my all. Life can present us with challenges, and it's what we do to overcome the adversity- that defines us!
I love the look of old water towers, especially silhouetted against the sky, so when I saw this scene, I knew it would make an incredible painting!
