Day 64 - Seminole, Texas

Day 64! 42 miles from Brownfield to Seminole, Texas. Only about a 500 foot climb.
Almost into New Mexico, just figuring out my route as I go! I got to do a cool scene today that I felt represented crossroads. Decisions we need to make in life can be difficult, but there's opportunity at the crossroads. I feel like life starts outside your comfort zone; sometimes when you're lost or scared, is where you grow the most.
At this point, planning to take a slice outta the southeast corner of NM and get back into Texas. I originally planned to do a diagonal shot through a lot more of New Mexico, but I had only looked at a map and planned around elevation and distance. I didn’t consider distances between hotels, gas station, and Walmarts! I was on a path to have 75 mile days with NOTHING! And if it weren’t for all my filming and painting gear and supplies, I’d be down… Bit since I’m lugging 20+ pounds before hydration most days, my bag gets to around 30 pounds when I load up! So for the long stretches that I want to have 5 liters or more of water (40+ mile stretches) - It sucks!
So, I had to make the executive decision that 75+ mile days in the desert should be avoided unless otherwise absolutely necessary. My route is taking me a little deeper south around I20 in Texas, but I’m doing what I can, and I have been winging it since day one!
