Painting Across America
Skated 45 miles today with hardly any hills to climb! 213 feet elevation gain.
It was a little tricky at the beginning of my day because my maps had me skating on dirt roads again!
I had been waiting for the right moment to paint a cotton field, and today was the day!
I feel like I’ve thought about making this painting for hours while on the road, and seen so many cotton fields along the way, that I didn’t have to think when I made it! I was looking for the perfect field and this was it. Since I had seen a bunch of rattlesnakes in Texas, I was cautious not to sit in any tall grasses when I painted, since I kinda like being alive.
It was great tp finally get to do this cotton field piece, and I had so much time to think of how I wanted it to look (three weeks or so) the painting was completed in my mind before I even picked up a brush. Really interesting how the mind can work like that.
