Day 53 - Oakdale, Oklahoma

Man, was this day tough! It was filled with great energy people and an awesome painting session, but it was a challenge!
I skated from Hinton to New Cordell, Oklahoma- which was 53 miles with 1601 feet climbed… and when I got to the motel I planned on staying at, it was closed!!!
I ran into my new friend Jack Rice again on the road (the cyclist from yesterday) and that started my day off hyped- and he even gifted me a pair of headphones!
Oh yeah, I’ve been doing this in silence! I’m insane.
I painted a tractor outside a church and had gotten stopped by a few kind souls during my session, making sure I was ok, and giving me gifts!
A couple days ago, I purchased some camping gear because I have been winging it on this trip, and I wasn’t sure if I could find lodging, and it was supposed to get super cold.
I had picked out a bunch of lightweight compact camping gear from REI before leaving on this trip, hoping to stop and stock up before I needed it. Unfortunately, I didn’t time things out properly, and got stuck buying Walmart camping gear. I must say, not too bad for the weight and the price, but adding 6 pounds to my load was such a strain on my body. It slowed me down severely and everything hurts!
I guess I lucked out when I ended up stranded and had to pitch a tent in a random field. I saw some farm equipment and scrap metal between a few buildings and set up there out of desperation. As I laid down, I heard footsteps approach me, and whoever walked by, decided to let me rest without consequence for the night.
