Day 52 - Hinton, Oklahoma

Windy windy day! Day 52 was a challenge. I had the opportunity to have an interview with KOGO radio in San Diego, and I answered the phone in the middle of a field, dealing with 45 mph winds! I then proceeded to push forward, forgetting to check if there was somewhere to get food up ahead. The highway I was skateboarding on earlier ended up not having any shoulder, and because of the wind, I deemed it a bit too dangerous, so I opted for the backroads. This was the windiest day of the skate, and the roads were absolute trash. It really tested me to be in the middle of nowhere, starving, and being blasted by the gusts of wind. I was somewhere between angry and sad, for feeling so weak and hopeless... and then I had something happen that brought me back to life. As I got onto old historic Route 66, I noticed a cyclist and we began chatting. I asked him where he was heading, he said "San Diego"- and I said, "Me too!" Meeting another trans-American athlete really got me stoked to keep pushing. I thought I wasn't going to be able to paint outside today, but after climbing some hills and getting behind a row of trees, I had an opportunity for this cool painting. It is very reminiscent of day 14's painting, with a similar curving road and trees in the background.
