Day 44 - Fort Smith, Arkansas

Almost half way across the continent!
Day 44 was a great, and this painting was a ton of fun!
I’m not going to lie, it can be really difficult to find the right scene to paint…
I try and time it out so that I have good lighting and so it’s not too hot out, but it’s rough to pass by beautiful scenery, hoping to find something else later on in the day.
On this particular day, I found a nice little creek that I wanted to paint, but I couldn’t get down to it to find a good view. At that point, I was running out of time before the sun went down, and starting to stress out about it.
Right as I was getting ready to panic; knowing I was entering a town area that had minimal nature, I looked to the right and saw a dirt path. It was an abandoned lot, with overgrown grass, and nothing else. It’s a fun challenge to find the beauty in places you’d least expect it. Almost half way across the continent!
45.07 miles and 1345 feet climbed!
