Day 35 - Humboldt, Tennessee

The process of making one of these paintings… It’s a lot!
It starts when I shut my eyes for the night, I’m already thinking of where I’m going to skate tomorrow, and what I need to do to prepare. Depending on the night, it’s anywhere from midnight and 4:30 am that I get to sleep.
10:15 ish is my wake up time, and I jump in the shower and start packing my bag. I’m not packed yet because I have my personal hygiene bag out and ready for the morning, and I have devices charging overnight.
I drink 2-3 liters of water or Gatorade overnight to make sure I’m hydrated. I make a few crappy hotel coffees and get out on the road at 11:00 am. I could adjust my schedule to get up earlier, but this time frame works great for my work flow.
I try and eat something asap in the morning but sometimes I skate 20 miles first, and just hydrate and maybe a quick snack. Sunscreen is a must, and I start on my route.
I see beautiful scenery all day, but I like the golden hour lighting, and wait for something to catch my eye. I saw some really nice farm equipment in a field that just looked like the perfect subject matter for the day!
I had intended on skating to Jackson, Tennessee, then realized I could go to Bells, instead- only to find out after 50 miles of skating- that I needed to push another 15 to the next hotel!

All day Im lugging at least 15 pounds of gear, 20+ with 3+ liters of water!
I like night skating because it’s cooler out and there’s less cars.
A perfect day is 30 in sunlight, 20 in the dark
I’m getting better at time management, but it’s tricky to get everything edited before I’m exhausted and need to crash.
Still, loving every minute of this trip!
