Day 28 - Cookeville, Tennessee

Day 28 of The Pushing The Art Project seemed to be the day that signaled the shift in seasons for me!
I’ve been working on making my way to Cookeville for several days now, and it’s been a little tricky navigating!
I’ve been dealing with a couple of physical pains the past few days, but pushing through it always feels nice!
I had a couple moments that I had to jump off my skateboard, and sometimes the impact of planting a foot when you’re moving quickly- has more repercussions than just taking a slam! That being said, my toenail on my big toe on my left foot looks like he’s putting in his two weeks. He’s planning to move on to a life somewhere besides being attached to my foot. He’s been a hard worker, and always showing up when I need him most, so it’s going to be sad to watch him go, but it looks as though he’s made up his mind. I’m hoping I can coerce him into hanging on to his current position and treating him with the love and respect he deserves, but at the end of the day- I respect his decision on whether or not he wants to stay with me. I took a walk in the park when I arrived and I was having trouble locating a subject or composition that really called out to me, until I sat down at a picnic table, and saw the stark contrast between the vibrant green leaves on the trees, and the array of warm, earthy, neutral tones of the fallen leaves on the floor of the woods.
It was great to have a place to sit down and set up my gear, and it made me feel slightly less like a sketchy bum in the streets for a day! Although, there ain’t no shame up in my game, and I was made for the streets. Not like in a hood kinda way, but I like to sit on the ground in public and make art, watching as the passersby’s awkwardly glance over at me like I’m a filthy peasant. They are fairly accurate in their assumed prejudgement. It wasn't a far push today, 24.36 miles with only 890 feet elevation gain.
