Day 22 Painting Across America- This is my first time really exploring Tennessee. I did a cross country drive in January two years ago; and I stopped a few places in Tennessee, but this trip is allowing me to really experience the state.
I felt like Virginia had me trapped for a while there! Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful there, I’m just not a big fan of the conditions for skateboarding. The second I made it to Tennessee, I was so relieved to be onto the next chapter of this adventure! The roads opened up, and there’s quite a lot of shoulders and bike lanes here! I made it from Bristol to ROgersville, which was 50 miles and 2300 feet climbed!
Aside from skateboarding being a bit safer, this state has a noticeable relaxed feel, and a charm about it. On day 23 in particular, I was taken aback by the peaceful beauty of Surgoinsville. A town I had never heard of surprised me with gorgeous homes on rolling farmland hills, and a beautiful environment for painting.
As with many of the days so far, I was racing the sun to get to the right spot to paint, and boy, did I find a wonderful scene.
