Day 13 - Greenwood, Virginia

Made it to Greenwood Virginia, where the sunset was amazing! I had to pull over on the side of the road and paint this scene to add to the collection.
Almost two weeks into the adventure, and my legs are feeling great! My back seems to be the more painful part of my body at this time.
I am lugging around sometimes well over 20 pounds of gear including water, and it is weighing me down, especially up hills.
The sweat is real, but I’m doing my best to hydrate so I don’t cramp up. Electrolytes are my best friend.
I got stopped by a woman who saw me painting and we talked for a while, she was looking out for my safety and recommended I alter my route. I was a little frustrated with the new route at first because it was steep and windy. Once I made it back to the main road I understood exactly why she had me cut to the side roads.
Even with bright lights on my pack and body, the cars whipping around these mountain curves came so close to hitting me I could feel them. Managed to make it 33.6 miles with an elevation gain of 3335 feet!
That was one of my least favorite routes I’ve taken so far, and I am taking greater precaution in planning my days. I prefer late night skating in some stretches. With bright lights on; when there are virtually no cars on the road.
