Day 104 - San Diego River, San Diego, California

Day 104 and I'm really taking it in. I skateboarded 25 miles with a climb of 900 feet. Although I haven't crossed the finish line, I'm feeling proud, and really excited to be wrapping up the adventure! I feel like I had a little bit of a rushed mentality for a lot of the trip- because I was falling behind schedule. I like to set high standards for myself, and I built up a bit more pressure than I needed to along the way. It was motivating, to feel like I had catching up to do, but it can sometimes pull me out of the moment. Knowing that this is the last full day of Painting Across America, I am realizing the accomplishment, and trying to remain present. I had done this route before ( or at least most of it) so I was familiar with some roads finally! It only took 3500 miles to end up back in my neck of the woods. Giving myself roughly 20-25 mile days for the last little bit- was a great call to calm my pace and enjoy the bittersweet end of the push. I recall getting over hills and peeking over the buildings in the distance, just waiting to see the ocean! I was running out of light as I stumbled upon this scene on the San Diego River. As the sun was setting, it cast a golden glow on the vegetation, and I exaggerated that illumination in my interpretation of the scene. After completing the painting, I was so close to home, that I decide I could sleep in my own bed for the final night. I still had about a mile to go, and was ready for the final push for tomorrow. I have friends and fans ready to push with me down to Crystal Pier, and we're having Fox 5 News come out to cover the last push!
