Day 102 was a mellow push of 22 miles, with a climb of 1100 feet. The day started with some really nice hill bombing, and beautiful scenery. At this point I'm just super stoked that I was able to eat a ton of food and hydrate- and sleep in a bed! Being just a few days from the end of the journey, my focus was on living in the moment. I feel like I had a bunch of pressure I put on myself for the mission, and it was time to ease up. Yeah, it took longer than I expected to skateboard across America, but you know what? I did it! Almost... but I'm just trying to soak it all in and feel present on the road. Some parts of the skate were sketchy today, not a lot of shoulder and some really windy roads- but I managed to get a good stretch of some backroads towards the end of my skate. My buddy Chachi had suggested the route, as it is a fun one for him to ride his motorcycle on. I checked into a little hotel, and cruised back out to find a spot to paint. I saw some mountains in the distance, and set up my gear. This was a relaxing piece to work on. I felt a ton of pressure off my chest, knowing I was so close to the finish line! I've been chatting with the folks down at Fox 5 news, and preparing to meet up tomorrow for an interview! I'm excited for that, and to be able to crash at a buddy's place as well. So close...
