Day 4 Painting Across America and I'm in my 4th state! It felt awesome to realize the ground I was covering, despite some navigational issues. I made a really bad wrong turn today, going several miles northeast when I was supposed to be going southwest. This mistake brought me to an incredible waterfall under a bridge where I was tempted to paint, but I knew I had to get some more forward progress. After correcting my course, and stopping for lunch, I had a woman recommend I visit a local lighthouse. I ended up at the Havre De Grace, Maryland lighthouse- and it was a great scene to paint. This was 9/11 so the flag was at half staff. I made the tough decision to paint a vertical composition, which adds some variation to the series, but absolutely makes sense for the taller subject matter. I made it 38.03 miles with an elevation gain of about 1650 feet- for my highest climb yet. But there are way bigger climbs ahead...
